Operation Saving Democracy is a pro-democracy political action committee.

We have a track record of moving the needle to impact important electoral races around the country using the combined efforts of National Security Leaders for America (NSL4A) and Democratic Majority Action PAC (DMA).

NSL4A evolved from a historic bipartisan effort when more than 1,000 retired admirals, generals, ambassadors and other national security leaders came together to endorse and support President Joe Biden in 2020 against Donald Trump. Its unique membership encompasses senior leaders from the military and national security-related government agencies, as well as elected officials at the state and local levels. Having dedicated their professional lives to protecting and supporting the “great American experiment” of democracy, almost 600 retired Generals, Admirals, Ambassadors, cabinet and service secretaries, appointed leaders, elected officials, and Senior Executive Service leaders have come together at this time of significant threat to the essential tenets of our Democratic institutions and values. DMA and The American SOS Project PAC are led by Amy McGrath, a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars who feels a sense of responsibility to fight for our democracy and for the future of our country.

These partners previously worked together to make critical investments, defeating “election denier” candidates in the 2022 cycle.

For decades, the Republican Party has been seen as the party of national defense and security. In the age of Trump, extremism within that party has become a huge national security risk.

In the 2024 election cycle, we have a unique opportunity with traditionally Independent and Republican voters who care deeply about democracy and national security issues. Using trusted bipartisan voices within the national security world, we are reaching out to voters in key states with messages that matter to them. These leaders in the defense national security community are patriots who have unique, credible and powerful voices that are persuasive to this critical group of voters. Operation Saving Democracy is marshaling the resources and building the infrastructure necessary to amplify those voices. We hope you will join our mission.

Why Trumpism is a National Security Threat

The national security threat of Trumpism is real and has infected the political landscape across the country. It goes beyond any one candidate or race. The extreme far-right authoritarian ideology that has taken hold in the GOP is an attack on democracy itself, alienates our global allies, weakens our standing on the world stage and our security at home, fosters disinformation and conspiracy theories, and normalizes violence against those who disagree.

Trump is still the leading GOP candidate for president, which poses a serious threat to the safety of our country.

His ongoing efforts to undermine the rule of law, mishandling of classified materials, and blatant disregard for the collective experience of the intelligence community are only the beginning.

Under indictment for more than 90 felony charges at the federal and state level combined, Trump’s return to the White House is a recipe for chaos domestically and around the world at a moment where a myriad of global security challenges require sober leadership.

Trump is also being investigated for his efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 election and his role in the insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The Republican party leadership has either been silent, or continues to perpetuate Trump’s lies that have led to violence and chaos. Party leaders who have not fallen in line are ousted from their positions, demeaned, and have lost their power. This is an undemocratic and dangerous threat to our founding principles, and it must be stopped.
